Sickness Absence & Attendance Management

Sickness Absence & Attendance Management

Have you considered the impact on your business when employees take sick days? We help you reduce sickness absence by supporting staff health and fitness for work, day to day, so your business keeps moving and your managers feel supported.

We offer one off management referrals by video consultation or telephone. As a small, flexible team, we can usually book an appointment within a few days of referral. After the appointment, we aim to deliver the report within one to two working days. That means you get clear, practical advice quickly, so you can manage sickness absence and attendance with less disruption.

Fast, simple referrals through our Management Portal

Our Management Portal is quick to set up and easy to use. In most cases, you can add your company and employee in minutes. The system then sends the consent form to the employee and guides you through the referral questions step by step.

Because we work closely with you, we can also help you shape the referral questions so you get the answers you actually need, not a generic report that creates more confusion.

Why you should pay attention to sickness management

No matter the size of your organisation, sickness affects everyone. It impacts the person who feels unwell and it also affects productivity, service levels, team capacity and ultimately profit.

Long term absence can also strain team morale and working relationships, especially when other staff cover extra workload for extended periods.

Just as importantly, presenteeism can cost you even more. Presenteeism happens when someone attends work but cannot perform at their normal level due to illness or injury. Some estimates place the cost of presenteeism at around 1.6 times the cost of sickness absence. When you leave it unaddressed, it drains performance quietly and consistently.

Absence Management

How we help you manage sickness absence

When employees feel well and supported, they often show more resilience, higher productivity, and better ability to handle change. They also tend to take fewer days off for physical or mental health reasons.

Our attendance management service supports that outcome by giving you practical strategies to manage health and attendance. We provide clear, unbiased advice that supports the employee, HR and the employer, so you can make fair decisions based on evidence.

In some cases, Employment Tribunals have referenced Occupational Health reports as sensible and helpful when employers needed to show they acted reasonably. Our focus stays on writing useful reports that stand up to scrutiny and work in real workplaces.

Remote case management

We carry out assessments remotely by video or telephone. Many clients choose remote consultations because they save time and reduce cost, while still providing a thorough clinical discussion.

If a case needs face to face input, we can also offer in person assessments on request, particularly when complexity or role demands justify it.

Case conferences

A case conference brings the right people into one conversation, so everyone can agree the next steps. Typically, it includes the employee, an Occupational Health professional, the line manager and an HR representative. The employee may also invite a representative if they wish.

During the discussion, we explore the health issues, how they affect work, and what support may help. The goal is to reach a shared understanding and agree a way forward.

A case conference can help when you face long term absence, repeated absence patterns, uncertainty about fitness to return, or challenges around adjustments and restrictions. It can also support managers when the business needs to understand what adjustments it can realistically accommodate.
